Helpful Tips

Leaving / Giving Notice to Leave

So, you want to leave your rental property?

We always encourage our tenants to make contact with us to discuss their situation prior to completing any forms. We can help provide you with advice and guidance about your plans to leave your rental property.

Give us a call on (07) 3622 6436 or email: hello@collinsgregory.com.au

The notice required will depend on the type of lease you have signed. If you wish to vacate the property on a non-fixed term (periodical) lease, you are required to give a full 2 weeks notice in writing.

We always ask that if you are on a fixed term lease you give the maximum amount of notice possible so we can schedule in your final inspection date and time, and give the landlord plenty of time to re-let the property. We will also contact you at least a month before your end of lease date to check whether you are staying or not.

Once you have provided notice, we encourage you to read through your Vacate Guide which will be emailed to you, as well as being available online here.

We recommend giving your Property Manager a call to discuss your intention to leave. Although it is not mandatory, we recommend doing so as it allows us to prepare you and your property for a smooth vacate. We can provide you with the necessary supports and guidance to help smooth your departure.
