Forest Lake is a planned community located within the city of Brisbane, Queensland. Originally established in 1991, it was one of Brisbane’s first master planned communities.
It is a green, leafy and picturesque suburb, located 19 kilometres from the Brisbane CBD, and offers a convenient neighbourhood in the green, bush setting that is aligned to an active lifestyle or relaxed recreation. The suburb itself is well established and thriving, suitable for families wanting to get out and about.
The suburb is certainly suited towards family living, with large homes and yard sizes, along with plenty of walking paths and bike tracks spread through the area.
The suburb has three primary schools, along with two high schools. There are also a number of sporting facilities, parks and playgrounds, offering a welcome respite from the busy day to day of the city life. For this reason, Forest Lake is an active, outdoor community.
Residents walk their dogs around the neighbourhood and along bush creeks, and kids learn to ride their bikes in quiet cul-de-sacs. There are local sporting teams to join – AFL, rugby, netball, basketball, cricket, water polo – and plenty of parks, fields, running tracks and pools to play in.
The lake itself, in Forest Lake, covers 10.3 hectares, and is surrounded by 3.5 kilometres of walking tracks and cycleways, and 8 hectares of parkland.
There are also several shopping strips and villages located across the suburb, offering local residents every opportunity to pick up those necessities for everyday life.
Houses within the suburb tend to be single or double-storey brick homes with three to four bedrooms, with a few wooden colonial-style replicas on the ridges. Some homes in the region even offer city views of Brisbane.
Forest Lake has an active community in part due to the many walking paths and bike tracks throughout the suburb.
